Use a Vacuum Cleaner with a Soft Flooring Attachment, or a Broom

You can also use a lightweight vacuum, but avoid using one with a rotating bristle bar, which can damage your floors. If your vacuum has a beater bar, be sure to set it to a bare floor setting or use a floor-brush attachment instead.

Watch what shoes you wear indoors.

It’s essential to be mindful of the shoes you wear as you walk across engineered flooring. High heeled shoes and any sports shoes with spikes can cause significant damage to the top layer of engineered flooring.

Keep Mats and Rugs at Main Entrances.

Use mats and rugs at main entrances to brush dirt and debris off shoes and near water-prone workstations like sinks, the dishwasher and the laundry room. This will keep pebbles, dirt, moisture, grains of sand, fragments of glass, and debris out of the house and off of the floor. It will also help you avoid scratches, keeping the upper wear layer and finish of your floor safe and intact for a longer period of time.
